Navy Pier welcomes guests back as Chicago reopens a little more

As Chicago takes another step toward normalcy with new reopening plans, Navy Pier welcomes back visitors to some of its outdoor spaces.

- That's exactly right. Good morning too, Tania. Today, Navy Pier will welcome back visitors to some of its outdoor spaces and attractions as part of its phased reopening. Mayor Lightfoot announced indoor capacity at restaurants and bars can also immediately increase to 50% or 100 people per space and 25% capacity allowed at other venues, including convention spaces, places of worship, farmers markets. Red Bulls and Blackhawks games are now allowed 25% capacity or about 4,000 fans. These restrictions have been loosened as long as the number of cases COVID cases across the city stay low.

- This is happening. Make no mistake because people are getting vaccinated.

- And along with Navy Pier, reopening festivals are back. Starting with the Windy City smokeout on July 8th. And more good news from Navy Pier, a fireworks show dedicated to health care and frontline workers it's set for this Saturday night. And I wanted to mention to our viewers, the Ferris wheel is going to be back open today.
