Nazareth, Borden County baseball players land on TSWA Class 1A all-state team
Nazareth's Trent Gerber is one of three area players to land on the Class 1A Texas Sports Writers Association's all-state baseball team's first team, which was announced on Monday.
Gerber was named a first-team pitcher after helping the Swifts to a runner-up finish in the state tournament. The senior finished the year with a 12-0 record on the mound with a 0.64 ERA, striking out 150 batters, walking seven and allowing just nine runs (seven earned) on 23 total hits over 76.1 innings.
Borden County had two players named first-team all-state with catcher Hagan Gordon and second baseman Kallan Kuehler getting the nod. Gordon, a sophomore, hit for a .649 average with 15 doubles while Kuehler, a junior, batted .536 on the season with seven triples.
Sophomore pitcher Mason Adcock of Borden County and junior outfielder Tanner Birkenfeld of Nazareth were each named second team all-state selections.
Honorable mentions included Ethan Hargrove and Koda Bigham (both first basemen) of Borden County and Landy Young (pitcher) and Kole Campbell (third baseman) of Kress.
