NBA announces Rising Stars game will not be played All-Star weekend

With just 10 days remaining until the 2021 NBA All-Star Game, the NBA announced that the NBA Rising Stars game will not be played this year during All-Star weekend “due to the limitation of having All-Star events all on one night.”

Due to COVID-19, the NBA will hold the All-Star festivities on one night. The Skills Challenge and 3-Point Competition will be held prior to the All-Star Game in Atlanta, while the Slam Dunk Contest will take place during halftime.

Though the Rising Stars game will not be played, the NBA will recognize deserving players, which will be announced on March 3.

The NBA Rising Stars rosters are determined by the league’s assistant coaches. They consist of first- and second-year players, 10 from the United States and 10 international players.
