HOF Class of 2023's Dwyane Wade: 'On the bandwagon' for South Florida Final Four teams

The two South Florida teams in the NCAA men's basketball Final Four have added another high-profile fan to their ranks — newly elected Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2023 member Dwyane Wade.

In a press conference introducing this year's Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame class at NRG Stadium in Houston ahead of today's Final Four games, former Miami Heat superstar Wade said it's "awesome to see" so many people jumping on the bandwagon for the Miami Hurricanes and Florida Atlantic Owls.

"I had an opportunity to play in this game and it's special, being a part of the Final Four," said Wade, who starred at Marquette in 2000-2003. "This is a part of their history and we're all gonna be witnesses to it."

This is the first time that FAU and Miami have advanced to the Final Four in their respective histories (although Hurricanes coach Jim Larrañaga led George Mason to the 2006 NCAA Tournament's last weekend).

As the lowest seed left in the tournament and this year's default "Cinderella," Florida Atlantic has garnered a lot of national attention, but the Hurricanes have steamrolled through some of the country's best teams en route to their Final Four berth.

Count Wade as one of those impressed.

"Marquette got knocked out, so it's safe to say, 'Let's go South Florida teams,'" Wade said. "Let's do that. I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon too."
