Several players with Arizona connections are expected to be selected in the 2022 NBA draft and Phoenix native TyTy Washington is among them.

The guard, who played one season at Kentucky, is projected to be a first-round selection in the June 23 draft.

Washington played at Cesar Chavez High before going to Chandler AZ Compass Prep before landing at Kentucky.

He's picked as high as No. 16 in a couple recent NBA mock draft projections and as low as No. 28.

The Minnesota Timberwolves, at No. 19, are an especially trendy pick for the guard.

NBAdraft.net: Washington picked by Atlanta Hawks at No. 16

It writes: "TyTy Washington is one of the top guards in this draft class. He may not be flashy, and he may not have elite size or athleticism, but he is very efficient and makes winning basketball plays … His ability to create offense for both himself and his teammates while limiting turnovers bodes well for his long-term future … He has a deadly one and two dribble pull up game, which will also allow for him to add the step back jumper into his arsenal … He’s the type of player that could assimilate to virtually any roster because of his wide range of skills and his competitiveness on both ends of the court as well as his ability to play either guard spot … He figures to be one of the top guards taken in the upcoming NBA draft."

NBC Sports: Washington heads to Atlanta Hawks at No. 16

Tyler Byrum and Chase Hughes write: "The Hawks' front office has proven they will take the best player available, regardless of position (see: Onyeka Okongwu). So, even though they already have Trae Young, they could make room behind him at backup point guard for another talented player. Washington is a skilled floor general who can pass, rebound and rack up steals. While his shooting percentages were fairly modest in college, it was a one-year sample size and he shot an impressive clip from three in high school. Washington could be the next Kentucky guard to prove NBA evaluators wrong, following in the footsteps of Devin Booker, Tyler Herro, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Tyrese Maxey."

CBS Sports: Washington selected by Minnesota Timberwolves at No. 19

Gary Parrish writes: "Washington mostly played off the ball in his one season at Kentucky but projects as a lead guard in the NBA. Ankle injuries limited him in the second half of the season — but the one-and-done Wildcat showed enough before he was hampered to solidify his status as a top-20 pick."

The Ringer: Washington taken by Minnesota Timberwolves at No. 19

Kevin O'Connor writes: "D’Angelo Russell is being shopped around, so it makes sense for the Timberwolves to target a shot-creator with this selection. TyTy and Karl-Anthony Towns could make for a lethal pick-and-roll pairing, and with Anthony Edwards resembling a superstar in the playoffs (and in Hustle) Minnesota would be equipped with a dynamic offense. Whatever Russell would return in a trade could only bolster their roster even more."

NBA Draft Room: Washington drafted by Minnesota Timberwolves at No. 19

It writes: "TyTy was banged up late in the season but looked like a top 10 pick before that. This would be great value here."

Bleacher Report: Washington goes to Timberwolves at No. 19

Greg Swartz writes: "With D'Angelo Russell and Patrick Beverley both on expiring deals next season, the Wolves should look at point guards in the draft to start developing. While he's not a true floor general, Washington can handle the ball and has a nice floater and mid-range game."

Yahoo Sports: Washington lands with Minnesota Timberwolves at No. 19

Zak Hanshew writes: "More of a score-first guard but has the ability to find teammates and rebound effectively. Washington’s game sets him up as a solid points-league player thanks to his offense, especially if he lands with the run-and-gun Timberwolves. He might struggle to find standard-league value in 9-cat formats right off the bat due to his score-first nature, but there's certainly room for him to grow."

SI.com: Washington lands with Memphis Grizzlies at No. 22

Brett Siegel writes: "TyTy Washington is just 19-years-old and still has plenty of room for growth, especially if he is able to sit behind Morant and learn from him as the 2022-23 season progresses. Developing a consistent jump-shot from the perimeter will be key for Washington, as he tends to play more downhill and rely on his mid-range game than anything else, but the former Kentucky Wildcat is still projecting to be a reliable backup point guard right away because of his playmaking and ball-handling abilities."

The Game Day: Washington ends up with Golden State Warriors at No. 28

Jordan Schultz writes: "Washington, almost quietly, put together a terrific freshman season in Lexington, showcasing a splendid feel for the game, tight handle, and capable scoring ability. More guard depth for the surging Warriors in the form of Washington, a Second-Team All-SEC pick."
