We're bringing you NBA trade deadline 2023 rumors and live updates, reaction and analysis ahead of Thursday's 3 p.m. cutoff. The action kicked into high gear on Sunday with the Brooklyn Nets' trade of guard Kyrie Irving to Dallas for a package including former Detroit Pistons guard Spencer Dinwiddie.

And now, in the biggest move of all, around 1 a.m. Thursday on deadline day, the Nets are sending Kevin Durant and TJ Warren to the Phoenix Suns in exchange reportedly for Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, Jae Crowder, four unprotected first-round picks (2023, '25, '27, '29) and a 2028 first-round pick swap. How about the first week on the job under new Suns owner Mat Ishbia, the former Michigan State basketball player and head of United Wholesale Mortgage?!

TRADE TRACKER: Breaking down all the deals leading up to the deadline

Once again, the league's upcoming post-regular season play-in tournament — now in Year 3 in its current format — has whittled down the pool of sellers and increased the amount of buyers, who believe they're a move away from playoff contention since 20 teams will still be alive after 82 games.

Therefore, the few sellers have an advantage, and the Pistons (14-42) again find themselves out of play-in contention and at the bottom of the 30-team standings. They are situated to be sellers, but our intel suggests general manager Troy Weaver won't be giving away their top assets unless they get a haul back for Bojan Bogdanovic, one of the most coveted players in this market (read four fake trades that could fit). The Pistons' outlook is the same for one of the league's top bench scorers in Alec Burks. The Pistons have made trades each of the past two deadline days.

Both Bogdanovic and Burks are under team control next season at reasonable cost, making them more appealing to other teams. But the Pistons will be feeling pressure to make a leap next season, in Year 4 under Weaver, and both players could help them win games.

∎ The Lakers, fresh off the celebrations for LeBron James' NBA scoring record Tuesday, were busy on Wednesday night, shipping Russell Westbrook to Utah and bringing D'Angelo Russell back to Los Angeles in a three-team deal sending Mike Conley to Minnesota.

∎ Later Wednesday night, the New York Knicks made a deal with the Portland Trail Blazers to acquire Josh Hart, reuniting him with his former Villanova teammate, Jalen Brunson.

∎ Thursday's deadline day has seen a flurry of moves, including the Pistons acquiring James Wiseman from the Warriors and moving Saddiq Bey to the Hawks.
