NBC26 Storm Shield Forecast

Today, a strong cold front will slowly be approaching the area. Ahead of it, a wintry mix of some freezing drizzle, rain or snow showers will affect the area at times. As the afternoon progresses, any of that mix will change to all snow showers. 1" or so of accumulation is possible by the evening commute. Highs today will top out in the mid-30s, then slowly fall through the afternoon/ A few lingering snow showers carry over into the evening, but by midnight, any leftover snow will be out of our area. Total accumulations out of this whole event will only be 1-2", but that's still enough for a few slippery spots on the roads. Behind this storm system, a strong push or arctic air will drop temperatures into the teens on Tuesday. On Wednesday morning, we will wake up with temperatures below zero with afternoon highs between 4-8 degrees. If you are not ready for this yet, we quickly warm up into the mid-30s by the end of the week with a chance of a little snow on Thursday.
