NC baseball and softball state playoffs: 11 Randolph County teams make postseason field
The North Carolina High School Athletic Association on Monday released pairings for baseball and softball state playoffs, which begin with first-round games Tuesday.
A pair of Randolph County teams enter the playoffs ranked No. 1 in the West Region.
Randleman baseball carries a 25-1 record into playoffs and the top-seeded Tigers are looking to win a second straight state championship.
Providence Grove softball is an unblemished 21-0 and the Patriots are seeking their first state title.
A total of 11 Randolph County teams — five baseball and six softball — made the postseason fields, with Uwharrie Charter and Eastern Randolph softball teams joining top-seeded Randleman baseball and Providence Grove softball with first-round games at home.
Following the opening night of the playoffs, other rounds are set to take place Friday, May 13; Tuesday, May 17; and Friday, May 20 with regional championships slated for May 24-28.
State championship series are scheduled for June 3-4.
