This NC farm’s pumpkin patch has a wild twist — and it ranks among nation’s best
A North Carolina farm puts a wild spin on fall fun — and is one of the nation’s best places to go pumpkin picking, new rankings show.
Spring Haven Farm in Chapel Hill ranks among the top pumpkin patches in the United States, according to a list published Sept. 2.
The review website Yelp created the list of 30 favorite fall destinations after studying pumpkin-picking destinations across the country. It “then ranked those spots using a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews” over time, the website wrote in its report.
On Yelp, several users raved about the chance to choose their own pumpkins, helping Spring Haven Farm earn five out of five stars.
And when it came to carving the pumpkins, many couldn’t get enough of the farm’s wild experience. It turns out, the business allows visitors to do the carving while surrounded by animals inside of a goat pasture.
“The goats love to nibble on the insides of the pumpkins after you scoop them out,” the farm wrote on its website and Facebook page.
The carving events are scheduled to kick off Sept. 28, with tickets available through Oct. 31.
If you would rather have an experience without furry friends, the farm said it offers tractor train rides and allows people to take pumpkins home.
The farm, located Homer Ruffin Road near Interstate 40, isn’t a stranger to recognition. In 2021, the business landed on a similar Yelp list, which considered the best pumpkin patches over the previous two decades.
In addition to gaining national attention for its pumpkin carving activities, the Chapel Hill farm is known for its Valentine’s Day cuddling sessions and outdoor movie nights, both featuring the beloved goats, McClatchy News reported.
On the recent Yelp list, Spring Haven Farm was the only place in North Carolina to land in the rankings.
