ASHEVILLE - The North Carolina State Highway Patrol has confirmed that an Arden man is dead after his motorcycle and a car collided on the afternoon of March 21.

"A passenger vehicle was turning left from PVA (public vehicular area) of the Shell station onto US 25," Highway Patrol Trooper and spokesperson Rohn Silvers confirmed in an email March 22. "A motorcycle was traveling north on US 25. The driver of the passenger vehicle entered the roadway causing the motorcycle to collide with the vehicle. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead on scene."

Highway Patrol was dispatched around 1:14 p.m., Silvers said.

The motorcyclist who died was 34-year-old David Dion Mills of Arden, Silvers said.

"NCSHP Reconstruction has been notified and will be assisting with this investigation," Silvers said in his email. "The Buncombe County DA is aware of the circumstances and is waiting for our report to determine charges."
