N.C. State quarterback Brennan Armstrong is expected to play Saturday when the North Carolina Tar Heels come to town.

Armstrong did not participate in postgame interviews at Virginia Tech and was immediately seen by the training staff.

Head coach Dave Doeren said on Monday that Armstrong is “doing good” and did not indicate any concerns about his health.

“He ran for over 100 yards and took every snap in the game. He was just sore and (we) wanted to get him the treatment that he needed,” Doeren said. “He’s good. Like anybody that plays physical football, you’re gonna feel it sometimes after a game. We just wanted to make sure we did all the right things for him.”

Armstrong finished the game with 203 yards passing and two touchdowns. He added 89 rushing yards and two more TDs on the ground.

The graduate student ran for more than 100 yards, like Doeren said, but his net yardage dropped after rushing out of bounds on the final three plays of the game.

Since returning to the starting role, Armstrong has amassed 316 passing yards, 185 rushing yards, zero interceptions and six touchdowns — three rushing and three passing.

“He’s got heart. He’s tough,” Doeren said. “He creates plays when they’re not there. Then , plays that we asked him to run, he runs them in a physical way.”

Other injuries

Running back Michael Allen was removed from the depth chart this week. He left the Wake Forest game and did not appear against Virginia Tech.

Fellow RB Demarcus Jones II remains off the depth chart after being removed last week. Jones has not played since the Duke game.

The Wolfpack listed Kendrick Raphael, Delbert Mimms III and Jordan Poole as potential starters. Wide receiver Kevin “KC” Concepcion and Armstrong have contributed to the run game, as well.
