NC State football OC Tim Beck will be next head coach at Coastal Carolina

Coastal Carolina has targeted NC State offensive coordinator Tim Beck as its next head coach and will make the hire official later today, a source told the USA TODAY NETWORK on Sunday.

Beck has been the Wolfpack's OC for the last three years and has served as an offensive coordinator at three Power 5 programs including Nebraska and Texas. The news comes shortly after Coastal Carolina coach Jamey Chadwell was reportedly hired as the next head coach at Liberty University.

According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Beck will be offered a five-year deal that will pay him nearly $1 million per year.

NC State finished the regular season 8-4 with a 4-4 mark in ACC play where it started four different quarterbacks and finished with a 30-27 double-overtime win over rival UNC. Beck was a 2020 Broyles Award nominee, given to the nation's top assistant coach, and helped push quarterback Devin Leary to set a school record with 35 touchdown passes in a single season in 2021. He also worked with Joe Burrow in his early years at Ohio State, Sam Ehlinger at Texas and J.T. Barrett at Ohio State.

This would be Beck's first FBS head coaching job, although he was a high school head coach for nine seasons with three different schools.
