NCAA early signing period: A look at who has signed as Class of 2022 for Ball State

The NCAA early signing period for all other sports besides football began Wednesday. For Division I basketball, the early signing period continues through Nov. 17. For all other sports, it continues through next August.

As of Thursday at 4 p.m., 26 future Ball State athletes across eight different sports signed their National Letter of Intent. Here's a look at the confirmed signings of athletes in the Cardinals' Class of 2022:

This list will be updated as more athletes sign.

Baseball

Blake Bevis, P/1B, Ravenwood (Brentwood, Tennessee)

Bevis was the district player of the year, district champion and region champion as a junior. He boasts a career .360 batting average with 60 RBIs and 30 doubles to go along with a 0.935 ERA, 85 strikeouts and .150 opponents batting average in 51 innings pitched.

Dylan Grego, SS/2B, Staley (Kansas City, Missouri)

Grego is an All-State switch-hitting shortstop who has a career .400 batting average, 45 hits and 22 extra-base hits.

Owen Quinn, OF, Lawrence North (Indianapolis, Indiana)

Quinn was an All-Marion County second team selection as a junior. He has a career .318 batting average, 13 extra-base hits and 26 RBIs.

Drew Trevino, P, Flushing (Clio, Michigan)

As a freshman, Clio earned All-Conference and All-District honors thanks to a perfect 7-0 record. He boasts a 0.72 ERA and limits opponents to a .113 batting average.

Cole Wise, P, Northwestern (Kokomo, Indiana)

Last season, Wise led Northwestern to a sectional championship, earning team MVP and All-Conference honors along the way. He has a career .323 batting average, .908 fielding percentage, 2.15 ERA and 120 strikeouts.

Softball

Bridie Murphy, P, St. Paul's (Glenmore Park, Australia)

Murphy is a standout pitcher from Australia. She threw 16 strikeouts during a U17 Australia National Softball Championships.

Men's volleyball

Mason Connor, L, Germantown (Germantown, Wisconsin)

Connor helped lead Germantown to a No. 1 seed in the Wisconsin state tournament and a runner-up finish in the sectional.

Ryan Bartz, OH, Muskego (Muskego, Wisconsin)

Bartz was named a top boys volleyball player by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and had 259 kills entering the 2020 state championships.

Women's volleyball

Katie Egenolf, OH, Center Grove (Greenwood, Indiana)

Egenolf was a three-year varsity starter at Center Grove where she racked up 1,177 career kills, 472 digs and 159 blocks.

Paige Busick, DS/L, Bellmont (Decatur, Indiana)

Busick was a member of a Bellmont team that finished as the Class 3A state runner-up last weekend at Worthen Arena. A defensive specialist/libero, Busick had 1,125 digs and 135 aces in high school.

Aniya Kennedy, MB, La Porte (La Porte, Ind.)

Kennedy led La Porte this past season with 477 kills. In high school, she finished with 1,225 kills (.360 hitting percentage), 308 blocks and 363 digs.

Madison Buckley, RS/OH, Kaneland (Montgomery, Ill.)

Buckley, an outside hitter from Montgomery, Illinois, helped lead Kaneland to a record-setting 34-4 record this past season.

Men's swimming and diving

Ben Clarkston, sprint freestyle, Center Grove (Bargersville, Indiana)

Clarkston helped Center Grove to an eighth-place finish at the 2021 IHSAA state finals. He helped Center Grove's 200- and 400-yard freestyle relay teams to fifth place finishes at state.

Kenny Reed, butterfly and sprint freestyle, Munster (Munster, Ind.)

Reed competed in four events at the IHSAA state finals, the maximum allowed for an individual. He helped the 200 medley relay team finish 10th and he finished 11th overall in the 100 butterfly.

Women's swimming and diving

Payton Kelly, backstroke, Henry Wise Wood (Alberta, Canada)

Kelly, a record-setting relay swimmer from Canada, is a Canadian Olympic Trials qualifier in the 100 backstroke and competed in six events at the 2020 Canadian Summer Championships, finishing sixth in the 100 backstroke.

Hannah Justice, diving, Hamilton Southeastern (Fishers, Indiana)

Last season, Justice finished fifth in Fishers sectional in the one-meter diving with a 329.97.

Kenzie Pierce, breastsroke, Fishers (Fishers, Indiana)

In the Fishers sectional, Pierce finished third in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 500-yard freestyle, finishing behind a pair of teammates in each event.

Alyssa Messenger, sprint freestyle, Penn (Osceola, Indiana)

Messenger competed in three events at the 2021 IHSAA state finals, finishing 11th in the 100 backstroke, ninth in the 200 medley and 14th in the 400 freestyle relay.

Maddy Hischer, diving, Fargo Davies (Fargo, N.D.)

Hischer, a diver from Fargo, North Dakota, has competed in multiple USA Diving Junior National Championships, finishing 40th this past season. She won the 2017 Minnesota Diving Association Championship in both the one- and three-meter.

Soccer

Kira Verburg, midfielder, Avon (Avon, Indiana)

Verburg, a midfielder, was a three-time All-Hendricks county and two-time Hendricks County first team All-Conference selection at Avon.

Emily Ellis, midfielder, Columbus North (Fishers, Indiana)

Ellis was a midfielder on a 15-2-2 Columbus North team that won a sectional championship this fall. This year, Ellis recorded 33 points, scoring 12 goals to go along with nine assists for the Bull Dogs.

Acadia Murphy, defender, Dexter (Dexter, Michigan)

Murphy was a Michigan Division I Second Team All-State selection and a First Team All-Conference and All-District selection.

Delaney Caldwell, forward, Saline (Chelsea, Michigan)

Caldwell was Michigan Division I Second Team All-State and All-Conference selection and a three-time Midwest Conference champion.

Emily Roper, forward/midfielder, Carmel (Carmel, Indiana)

Roper, a four-year varsity player, helped lead Carmel to two state runner-up finishes and a state championship during her freshman season. She scored 39 goals, including 19 as a senior, and had 18 assists in high school.

Women's golf

Jasmine Driscoll, Blakehurt (Sydney, Australia)

Driscoll hails from Australia, where she was a three-time age champion, 2019 New South Wales All Schools Golf Champion and 2018 NSW State Champion.

Madelin Boyd, Maxwell Heights (Ontario, Canada)

Boyd, a native Canadian, tied for fourth at the high school championships and tied for eighth at the Ontario Women's Amateur.
