The nation’s best college field hockey teams are coming to UConn this weekend to battle it out for a national championship.
UConn is hosting the NCAA Field Hockey Final Four at the Sherman Family Sports Complex on campus in Storrs. The national semifinals will take place on Friday, Nov. 18, with games at noon and 3 p.m., and the title game at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20.
A record three Big Ten teams earned their spots in the Final Four. No. 1 overall seed North Carolina (19-0-0) will take on Penn State (17-3-0) in the noon game on Friday, followed by No. 2 Northwestern facing No. 3 Maryland at 3 p.m.
The two semifinals will be streamed on ESPN+, while the final will be broadcast on ESPNU.
UConn has a proud field hockey tradition, having won five national championships— in 1981, 1985, 2013, 2014 and 2017. The Huskies have reached the Final Four a whopping 15 times.
The school has also hosted the Field Hockey Final Four in the past, including in 1981 and 1997.
This year, the Huskies finished 11-7 overall and fell to Liberty in the Big East tournament. They did not reach the NCAA Tournament.
