NCAA Tournament games, March Madness brackets are in. How will Notre Dame basketball fare?

Nothing comes easy for the Notre Dame men's basketball team. Posting a 22-10 record isn't the most intimidating record coming into the 2022 NCAA Tournament, but one thing that is certain in March Madness, is that nothing is certain.

After falling to Virginia Tech, 87-80, in the quarterfinal round of the ACC Tournament, the Fighting Irish will have a crack at the granddaddy of them all, an NCAA Championship.

ESPN writer: Myron Metcalf

Notre Dame prediction: "This is the ACC's No. 3 team entering the NCAA tournament. Maybe that doesn't mean what it once did. But Notre Dame has been steady in the final stretch of the season. And those boys can shoot."

Rutgers prediction: "Losses to DePaul, Lafayette, UMass, Minnesota and Northwestern drove the team's NET up to the 70s leading up to Selection Sunday. But Rutgers, which also beat Purdue and Iowa, toppled the top teams in the Big Ten. That version of the squad can advance in the NCAA tournament."

Notre Dame prediction: "Mike Brey's team has a potential first-round pick in Blake Wesley, a 6-5 freshman who now has the stage to show how good he can be. The Irish also have a veteran point guard, Prentiss Hubb, who will be a key factor in determining how good this team can be. Brey has one of the thinnest benches in this tournament, but Notre Dame's top seven are interchangeable.

Rutgers prediction: "There have been some intriguing at-large résumés from power-conference teams over the years, but it's hard to recall one as polarizing as Rutgers'. Now that Rutgers is here, can it do some damage? Go ask Purdue, Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and Ohio State. They all lost to the Scarlet Knights this year.."

Bleacher Report writer: Scott Harris

Notre Dame prediction: It will be a "tall task" for Rutgers to pull off a win against Notre Dame in the First Four round. The Irish are also a "scrappy bunch", but according to Harris Notre Dame will fall to Rutgers if Ron Harper Jr. is on his A-game.

Rutgers prediction: "This may be the sleepiest sleeper of the bunch. For Rutgers it all starts with Ron Harper Jr. He embodies this toughness through his clutchness. That March 2 game-winner over Indiana was the most notable example. Rutgers has the stuff to take some teams by surprise. They've been doing it all season."
