NCIS: Los Angeles casts Kayla Smith as LL Cool J's on-screen daughter

NCIS: Los Angeles has cast the role of LL Cool J's character Sam Hanna's daughter.
As reported by TV Line, singer, actress and daughter of former NBA player Kenny 'The Jet' Smith, Kayla Smith, has been cast in the role of Kamran.
Kayla is probably best known so far for her role in Georgia-based drama Ambitions, which aired on OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) from 2017 to 2019. The role of Kamran had previously been played by an actress named Layla Crawford for a little bit when the character was much younger.

Showrunner R Scott Gemmill has admitted that they are bringing Kamran in properly to create some drama for her father, due to the two of them being very different people.
"We never really spent much time with his daughter," he said, "who is getting to a point where maybe she doesn't share in the plan her father has thought she was going to take. So that creates some conflict.
"She's very socially active in terms of what's going on in the world, and clashes with her father over some of that because he feels that her involvement with things like protests could theoretically jeopardize her chance of getting into Annapolis."

Recently, LL Cool J and his NCIS: Los Angeles co-star Chris O'Donnell announced their own reality show called Come Dance with Me, which will air on the same network as NCIS.
NCIS: Los Angeles airs on CBS in the US and Sky One in the UK.
