NCIS pays emotional tribute to longtime staff member in latest episode
NCIS has paid an emotional tribute to staff member Harriet Margulies following her passing last month.
The longtime member of the NCIS family acted as an audience liaison between the show's producers and the fan base, Variety reports, and died on October 30 aged 94.
On Monday night's (November 8) episode, the show included an in memoriam card that read: "In memory of our friend and colleague Harriet Margulies. We will miss you".
Margulies answered hundreds of information requests for viewers over the years, and also helped organise fan participation at a Los Angeles convention in its earlier years, overseeing a set visit for attendees.
Alongside NCIS, she also worked on JAG and Quantum Leap, with the character of Harriet Sims from the former named after her.
Other credits have included Magnum PI and Kojak (which she also wrote an episode for), and she also made cameos on those shows alongside NCIS and Airwolf.
Fans have since shared tributes to Margulies, one tweeting: "She loved all my Abby clothes and was the one who got the security guard at NCIS to always call me 'Mini Abby' when he saw me. RIP Harriet. You will be missed."
Another said after the show's tribute: "This was nice to see. RIP Harriet. What a precious gem."

In other NCIS news, the show recently welcomed Gary Cole on board as the new lead following the departure of Mark Harmon as Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
However, Cole has assured fans that his character Alden Parker is "not trying to be" Harmon's, the star explaining: "I've done a lot of dropping into shows, [usually] as a recurring character.
"Part of my job description is to get comfortable, whatever that takes. I'm not trying to be [Gibbs]. The writers made that distinction."
NCIS airs on CBS in the US.
