The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot has announced seven additions to its cast, including NCIS star Scottie Thompson and The Walking Dead: World Beyond actor Joe Holt.

Deadline reports that Holt will be stepping into the shoes of Fred Wilkes, Lisa's father. The role, played by John Amos in season five of the original series, has been reimagined. Fred is the Police Chief who has "run in the same circle" as the Wilkes family for years.

Meanwhile, Thompson will be joining the Wilkes clan as Lisa's stepmother Angela. Newly married to Fred, she works as an interior designer.

Alongside Holt and Thompson, several other pivotal roles have been cast. April Parker-Jones (Supergirl) will play Will's mother Viola 'Vy' Smith. Stevonté Hart (Little Fires Everywhere) will join as Will's childhood best friend Tray Melbert.

Finally, Karrueche Tran joins as Ivy, a social media influencer. Duane Martin plays Steven Lewis, Uncle Phil's campaign manager. And Charlie Hall enters as Tyler Laramy, a Bel-Air Academy basketballer.

Bel-Air has previously confirmed Jabari Banks as the new protagonist Will, alongside Adrian Holmes and Cassandra Freeman, who play Will's uncle and aunt (Phil and Vivian), respectively.

Produced by Will Smith and based on the 2019 short fan film of the same name, the reboot is anticipated to have a grittier and more serious tone – seen in the first trailer.

According to Peacock, "Bel-Air will dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions and biases that were impossible to fully explore in a 30-minute sitcom format, while still delivering swagger and nods to the original show."

The reboot has already been confirmed for two seasons.

Bel-Air is set to debut on February 13 in the US and on February 14 on Peacock on Sky/NOW in the UK.
