  1. Wake County officials are asking for the public to help locate Kathleen Carpenter who was last seen three days ago by her mother. She was leaving their northern Wake County home and hasn't maintained contact with family which is typical when she is absent. (CBS17)

  2. Raleigh Police are investigating a shooting that occurred near Leesville Road around 10:00 am on Sunday. Police have not identified how many were injured or if there were any fatalities. (WRAL)

  3. NCSU is launching two new programs to aid students experiencing homelessness. The HOST [Housing Options for Students Today] program will utilize community members opening their homes to students in need of a temporary safe place while they work to find more permanent housing. The other program will start a student advisory board in partnership with the City of Raleigh and the National League of Cities to help students identify existing resources. (CBS17)

  4. North Carolina's historic preservation division, Preservation NC has identified 'endangered spaces' in the Triangle. The identified spaces are home to predominantly Black and Latino residents and are at high risk of gentrification as new developments are increasing property value and run the risk of displacing lower-income residents.   5. As we are rounding out the year, the Criminal Justice Task force has left North Carolina with 125 recommendations to help eliminate inequities in the criminal justice system. The recommendations include a variety of legislation, and lays out a roadmap to help tackle the issues within the law enforcement system in North Carolina. (abc11)

  • I don't know about you, but when I was younger Christmas Caroling usually meant visiting some type of long-term care facility to bring holiday cheer to residents. This Go Caroling Day, if you want to visit a long-term care facility NCDHHS guidelines do currently allow it, but make sure you call ahead to get the facility's ok.

  • If your family chooses to homeschool but you still want some holiday peer interaction, Planet Peace Affiliates is hosting a Homeschool Holiday today from 10:00am-2:00pm.

  • A NCSU Extension at the Upper Mountain Research Station in Ashe County has made its way to the White House via its Grand Champion Fraser Fir Tree. (NC State CALS News)
