Near-record heat continues in Corpus Christi area. Here's what to expect

South Texas could see near-record temperatures on Monday as hot and dry conditions continued to blister the region.

Temperatures ranged from 105 to the lower 90s with sunny and breezy conditions in the Coastal Bend area.

Corpus Christi and its surrounding areas saw a high of 92 on Monday. The area is expected to be especially hot and muggy Thursday through Saturday. The rest of the week will be sunny with highs in the 90s to 105 during the day and 70 to 80 at night.

To stay safe in the heat, the National Weather Service recommends limiting outdoor activities, drinking plenty of water, avoiding alcohol, wearing light clothing and sunscreen, and working outdoors early or very late in the day.

Those looking to escape the heat can find cooling centers throughout the Corpus Christi. Cooling centers include:

  • La Retama Central Library, 805 Comanche St. — Monday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday to Wednesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • Ben F. McDonald Public Library, 4044 Greenwood Drive — Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Janet F. Harte Public Library, 2629 Waldron Road — Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Owen R. Hopkins Public Library, 3202 McKinzie Road — Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Ethel Eyerly Senior Center, 654 Graham Road — Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Lindale Senior Center, 3135 Swatner Drive — Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Garden Senior Center, 5325 Greely Drive — Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Zavala Activity Center, 510 Osage St. — Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
