A nearly 60-acre mixed-use development is coming to a busy Lexington County area

A nearly 60-acre mixed-use development, which could include national and regional businesses and a “residential component” is being planned in a bustling section of Lexington County.

Commercial real estate firm NAI Columbia said in a Jan. 31 news release that its agents recently brokered the sale of three pieces of property, collectively totaling 57 acres, at the intersection of Platt Springs Road and Old Orangeburg Road in the Red Bank area. The land will be the future site of a development called Platt Springs Crossing.

The site sits directly across Platt Springs Road from a shopping center that is anchored by a Publix grocery store.

Per the release from NAI, Platt Springs Crossing will be a mixed-use development with “multiple national and regional users” and a “residential component.” More announcements about the development are expected in coming months.

The site for Platt Springs Crossing is near a busy commercial corridor in the Red Bank area. A new Chick-fil-A opened last year directly across Platt Springs Road, near the Publix. And the nearby South Lake Drive corridor is lined with a host of commercial businesses, including Walmart, McDonald’s, Lowe’s, Burger King, Sonic, Aldi and many more. Lizard’s Thicket also recently announced it would build a new restaurant in the area.

S.C. Department of Transportation traffic count data indicates about 28,000 cars per day travel down that stretch of South Lake Drive, while 18,000 cars per day travel down the section of Platt Springs Road near where the new development would be.
