Here are the top four stories today in Philadelphia:

  1. The city of Philadelphia announced that full vaccinations are now required for entry into bars and restaurants. Before Tuesday, proof of a negative coronavirus test within 24 hours of entry was acceptable, however, now it is not. The mandate is for anyone 12 and older. (Philadelphia Patch)

  2. A shooting in north Philadelphia has left a 16-year-old dead. The shooting occurred around 6:00 PM on Monday in north Philadelphia. The teenager was shot at least 20 times outside of his home. (CBS Philly)

  3. The school district of Philadelphia was awarded a Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) grant from The U.S. Department of Education. This $29.5 million grant will be disbursed over seven years to support college planning and readiness services for the 12 Philadelphia high schools in 30 middle schools. The GEAR UP Program is going to bring college preparedness to students in economically challenged communities. (philasd.org)

  4. A water main break in Kensington has caused a wet and muddy mess in the neighborhood. The break is near F and Clearfield streets in Kensington. The water has since been shut off. (CBS Philly)

  • The next system looks to bring rain changing to snow into tomorrow but any snow accumulation looks to be fairly minor, most likely under an inch. A more significant storm could impact the area with snow Friday night into Saturday but at this point, the system's track and impacts on the area remain uncertain. (Facebook)
