'Neighbor helping neighbor': Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive returns to Marshfield on Saturday

MARSHFIELD – Remember to stock your mailbox with canned food Saturday morning when the National Association of Letter Carriers' annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive returns to Marshfield.

"It's the easiest way you can support the families in need," said Arlene Dubrowski, a Marshfield Food Pantry volunteer.

Jen Douglas, the event coordinator for the Marshfield post office, said mail carriers are delivering yellow bags with a reminder card to all Marshfield residents. Anyone who wants to participate can put food in the bag next to the mailbox, and the mail carrier will pick them up the morning of May 14.

Non-perishable food is preferred, and expired food is not accepted.

"We want to make sure the families are comfortable and safe eating the food," Dubrowski said.

This marks the 30th year of the national food drive and the first time it has taken place since 2020.

"We're really happy to have it back," Douglas said.

All the food collected will be available to pick up at the Marshfield Food Pantry during regular opening hours — from 9:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday and Friday and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Dubrowski invites families to stop by for a week's supply of groceries with no questions asked.

Douglas said, "I love it. It's neighbor helping neighbor."
