Neighborhood Resources grant program may help with home repairs

Following the storm that caused extensive damage in portions of Wichita Falls the city of Wichita Falls is letting residents know about a program that may assist in making repairs to their homes.

Hosted by the Neighborhood Resources Division, the Homeowner-Occupied Minor and Emergency Repair Programs are funded through a federal grant and cannot be used with any other federally funded programs, disaster funding or insurance claims.

The program is aimed at helping low- to moderate-income people make small repairs to their home such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC or roof repairs. Program limitations prevent it from helping with cosmetic repairs, asbestos abatement, structural issues, septic tanks or manufactured homes.

Applicants must meet program requirements that include, but are not limited to:

  • Homeowner must live within the city limits of Wichita Falls

  • Apply for the home you currently live in with a clear title to the property

  • Have owned the home for at least one year

  • Have property that is outside the 100-year floodplain

  • Property or home cannot be a historic landmark

  • Homeowner must not owe debt to the city including unpaid property taxes or utility bills

  • Must not have filed for the program within the previous 12 months

  • Must meet federal income qualifications for household size.

To apply for the program call 940-761-7448 or come to the Neighborhood Resources office in room 300 at Memorial Auditorium building, 1300 7th Street.

If you don't qualify for this program but still need assistance, call 211 to see if any other resources are available to you.
