DI Trust is continuing its effort to getting the necessary approvals to construct a controversial 135-unit conservation subdivision off Forest Street in Dighton – but some neighborhood residents claim the project, which would extend into both Dighton and Taunton, would endanger wildlife in nearby wetlands and lower water pressure for nearby homeowners.

In other election news, Dighton Select Board incumbent Selectman Leonard Hull has announced that he is not running for re-election.

The news means Mark Pacheco, the former Dighton town clerk and now the city of Taunton's director of elections, will likely replace Hull as selectman.

'Shotgun marriage' could solve financial crisis endangering Good Sam, Morton, Saint Anne's

Steward Health Care plans to leave the Massachusetts market, according to U.S. Rep. Stephen Lynch and confirmed by the company.

Who might take over the for-profit company's hospitals in Brockton, Taunton and Fall River remains a mystery, as of this writing.

"Before we have any shotgun marriage between hospitals, I'd like to figure out in private exactly where those other hospitals stand in terms of their ability to step in, in some capacity," Lynch said at a press conference.
