More than 24 hours after the main broke, Dekalb County watershed crews remain at the scene.

The 16-inch water main broke Tuesday afternoon and sent water gushing down much of Covington Highway, near South Hairston Road.

“There’s a lot of traffic and a bunch of muddy water down the street,” said Gregory Pegues.

Pegues manages the MPH Luxury Auto Spa and says the break caused some issues for his business.

“Early this morning the water was a little brown,” said Pegues.

Dekalb County officials told Channel 2 that customers should expect low to no water pressure during repairs.

Traffic is also expected to build around the area, so drivers are advised to take any alternate routes.

As for Pegues, he says the timing right before the Thanksgiving holiday isn’t great.

“I hope DeKalb is doing whatever it can to relieve the situation,” said Pegues.

Crews are handing out bottled water to those affected by the break.

In the meantime, Dekalb County officials hope to have this fixed by late Wednesday night.
