Neighbors and visitors enjoy Mineral County Fair

Aug. 9—A major draw each year at the fair is the phenomenal work displayed by the Cabin Fever Quilters. Naomi Stevens handled Public Relations this year and was on-hand both days for tours, answering questions and networking with possible new members.

Always perky and chipper, Stevens complemented every quilter that participated.

"These women are so very, very talented with their own techniques and designs. So many of the entries are far from being considered a quilt. They have become art," she beamed.

Bonnie Goodrich won Best of Show along with blue ribbons for Modern Contemporary, Hand-Work Quilt and Misc/Novelty. First Place winners in the other categories were Katie Benson, Kerrie Hershey, Sydney Haskins, Laura Diko, Della Russell, Susan Charles, Nikki Clyde, Karlene Zuino, Della Russell, Katie Vesel and Paula Dalby.

The Mineral County Fair labeled "Always Fun in the 54" for 2023, ended Saturday night after the Superior LIONS Go for The Gold Rodeo and live music from the Hankers. Three days of excitement, once-a-year fair food, rodeo action, pie eating contests, a dog show and a talent contest, the 4-H livestock auction, raffle sales, floral displays and Open Class exhibits, bingo, the town-wide-parade, Butterfly House introduction with a bike rodeo, waterslides, pony rides and an obstacle course for the young fairgoers.

All of these activities with one of the best parts each year of seeing old friends and making new ones. Local street chatter made mention of lots of people from out of town attended, or did the new neighbors who recently moved here drop by?

That being the case, the residents certainly hoped you enjoyed yourselves and would like to see you more often.

Every organization could use more volunteer help and now would be a terrific time to pitch in as everyone is plum tuckered out after this wonderful annual event.
