Neighbours boss discusses show's 35th anniversary plans
Neighbours' executive producer Jason Herbison has spoken to Digital Spy about plans for the show's 35th anniversary, promising high drama.
The iconic soap will reach its milestone on March 18 and fans can expect a number of familiar faces to return to Ramsay Street in the special episodes ahead.
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy about what's to come, Herbison explained: "The 35th anniversary is by far the biggest event we've ever undertaken. Without giving too much away, I can tell you that we have two major narratives taking place.
"One is warm and nostalgic, the other is high drama. Some of the returnees come back for a specific event, others get swept up in it organically, which is lots of fun."

The show has already announced plans for 11 characters to be part of the celebratory episodes. Familiar faces coming back include Stephanie McIntosh (Sky Mangel), Bridget Neval (Lana Crawford), Bruce Samazan (Mark Gottlieb), Melissa Bell (Lucy Robinson), Olympia Valance (Paige Smith) and Paul Keane (Des Clarke).
Andrew Morley (Jack Callahan), Annie Jones (Jane Harris), Damien Bodie (Dylan Timmins), Prue Wallace (Denise van Outen) and Scott McGregor (Mark Brennan) will also be coming back.
Asked whether there will be even more returning characters this year, Herbison replied: "There will be more familiar faces returning throughout 2020.
"There is actually one returning face from the not-too-distant past that I'm particularly excited about – this person has been top of my list to bring back ever since they left."
Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 (UK) and 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).
