Neighbours legend Alan Fletcher has promised that the Australian soap will be "even better" than before once the revival kicks off on Amazon's Freevee service.

The Dr Karl Kennedy actor was speaking to UTV Life about the show's comeback, a year on from its cancellation due to Channel 5 pulling the funding that kept it going, and hints that the production values will be higher with that Amazon money.

"I was reflecting on this with Jackie (Woodburne) the other day. I've been doing this show for 28 years, the show's been going for 37 years," he reminisced. "It changed over that time, the production values increased. But now we get to do a re-do.

"It'll still be the same show... but we will be able to make it even better. I think this next season is gonna be incredibly exciting."

Part of the reason he feels like Neighbours has been so successful is its blend of comedy and drama, stating: "A lot of shows now, they are full on dramas. Let's face it. They can be hard watching, there is so much going on.

"I think Neighbours has got an elegant blend of the two."

We'll have to wait and see if that balance continues, or if Neighbours has any sort of tonal changes at all, once the revival drops, but it's safe to assume that Amazon will want to keep things as they were.

Fletcher and Woodburne, alongside Stefan Dennis and Ryan Moloney, were the first cast members confirmed for the revival.
