Neighbours introduces a new regular character today (September 13) as Pierce Greyson's son Hendrix makes his first appearance in Erinsborough.

Hendrix causes an immediate stir when he comes face-to-face with Pierce's girlfriend Chloe Brennan, who had no idea that he had a teenage son.

Need the lowdown on the soap's newest character? Here's a guide to everything you need to know about Hendrix.

Hendrix is the 17-year-old son of Pierce, who'll be bringing trouble to Erinsborough right from the start. Show bosses have billed the new character as a guy with "an impressive ego and a chip on his shoulder to match".

Known for his sense of entitlement, lack of respect and bad attitude, Hendrix has just been expelled from private school. Although Hendrix has only come to see Pierce for a visit, the millionaire business tycoon will ultimately agree to take the full parental reins when it comes to his wayward son. What could possibly go wrong?

Benny Turland, who plays Hendrix, revealed: "It's so crazy to be playing such a brat and actually get away with it. We have a lot of fun on set, but you know at some stage it's going to end in tears for him, which makes him really interesting to play."

Pierce was just 18 when Hendrix was born and hasn't been a big part of his upbringing. In Friday's Neighbours episode, Pierce gives his side of the story to Chloe, explaining that Hendrix's mum Lisa preferred them not to have much contact.

Lisa is older than Pierce and told him that she didn't need his parental involvement, encouraging him to go off and live his life. Pierce now regrets this and knows it was a mistake, as he's ashamed to have been an absent father.

Pierce is also dad to Hendrix's little sister, who currently lives in Sydney with her mum.

Hendrix's early scenes hint at a darker side to his character, as we learn that he has been harassing Pierce's ex-fiancée Ebony.

The teen also leaves Chloe uncomfortable by repeatedly flirting with her, although she holds back on telling Pierce what he's up to, fearful of how her boyfriend might react.

Chloe tries her best to help Pierce discipline his rebellious son when he continues to act out, but whether he'll respect his new parental figures for standing up to him remains to be seen.

Neighbours bosses have confirmed that Hendrix will be joining Erinsborough High, much to his disgust as he's used to private schools.

This means he'll also be playing a role in Neighbours' upcoming spinoff drama focusing on the school.

Who is Benny Turland?

20-year-old Benny, who plays Hendrix, will be best known to UK viewers for a previous guest stint on fellow Channel 5 soap Home and Away. Benny portrayed Jordan Walsh, a foster child of John and Marilyn Chambers.

Away from the soap world, Benny is an accomplished dancer and won Australian show Young Talent Time at the age of 12. He also made it to the semi-finals of Australia's Got Talent at 14.

Benn has appeared on the Australian versions of The X Factor and The Voice and has performed alongside Kelly Rowland and Rita Ora.

The young performer became interested in acting while at high school and he studied performing arts in his hometown of Mittagong in New South Wales.

As well as appearing in the Aussie soaps, Benny also had a guest role in award-winning series Love Child.

Speaking about his Neighbours role, he said: "I've been watching Neighbours since I was young kid and I still find it surreal being in scene with icons like Paul Robinson, Toadie, Karl and Susan, and having a laugh with them.

"Tim [Robards, who plays Pierce] has been great to work with and we have a lot in common off set in terms of fitness that has really helped develop a rapport on screen."

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 (UK) and 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).
