Its cast will be bolstered by the return of some well-loved stars, including Smith as Harold Bishop, Bell as Lucy Robinson, and Jones as Jane Harris.

Jones has signed up as a regular cast member alongside returning colleagues Rebekah Elmaloglou as Terese Willis, Georgie Stone as Mackenzie Hargreaves, and Tim Kano as Leo Tanaka.

Meanwhile, Smith and Bell will make guest appearances along with April Rose Pengilly as Chloe Brennan.

They will join some iconic Erinsborough stars already confirmed for the cast, including Stefan Dennis as Paul Robinson, Alan Fletcher as Karl Kennedy, Ryan Moloney as Toadie, and Jackie Woodburne as Susan Kennedy.

Neighbours, which had run for more than three decades, was previously cancelled after being dropped from Channel 5's schedules and aired its finale in summer 2022.

The platform has also made classic episodes of the Melbourne-set soap available, as well as related shows Neighbours - Looking Back which begins today, and Best of Neighbours on 7 March.

Many well-known stars began their careers at Neighbours, including Margot Robbie, Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Guy Pearce, Natalie Imbruglia and Russell Crowe.

Neighbours' finale last year welcomed back many of its former stars, including Pearce, Minogue and Donovan, although they have not been tempted back for regular roles in the soap.

Hollywood star Pearce said at the time: "Jason and I see each other all the time, and we still call each other Scott and Mike, which is a bit sad!

"Whenever I’m in London I’ll see Jason most times and I’ll see Kylie as well if she’s around.

"There are a few others I catch up with when I’m in Melbourne like Stefan (Dennis) and Annie (Jones) of course, she’s been on (crime drama series) Jack Irish with me."
