Neighbours shares first pictures as filming begins on new season

Neighbours has shared first-look photos from the set of the hotly-anticipated revival, as a number of classic characters officially return to Ramsay Street.
Channel 5 originally axed the soap last year, before the series was saved by Amazon Freevee following a relentless fan campaign.
On Twitter, the official page for Neighbours has shared two photos showing some of the revival's core cast members, writing: "Lights, camera, action, let's go! Brand new Neighbours is officially in production!"

The tweets, published today (April 17), officially confirmed that filming has begun.
Alan Fletcher (who plays Karl Kennedy), Rebekah Elmaloglou (Terese Willis), Annie Jones (Jane Harris), Lucinda Cowden (Melanie Pearson) and Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson) can be seen posing with a "day one" clapperboard.

Cowden is one of the most recent additions to the new Neighbours cast, having only been confirmed to appear in the last couple of days.
"We're so excited to announce that Lucinda Cowden will be reprising her role as Melanie Pearson in new episodes of Neighbours later this year," read a post on the soap's official Twitter account.

"We can't wait to welcome her back (and maybe her pig collection too). Even Madame Zolga couldn't have predicted this one!"
Cowden is set to feature alongside Ryan Moloney as Toadie Rebecchi, as the actors' two characters walked down the aisle in the emotional finale aired last summer.
Moloney had recently called for Cowden's return – and also shared his hopes that another character with links to Toadie might make a comeback.
Jackie Woodburne, Georgie Stone and Tim Kano are also expected to return as part of the regular cast, reprising the roles of Susan Kennedy, Mackenzie Hargreaves and Leo Tanaka respectively.
When Neighbours returns later this year, you can also expect to see guest appearances from Ian Smith as Harold Bishop, April Rose Pengilly as Chloe Brennan, and Melissa Bell as Lucy Robinson.
Neighbours returns in the second half of 2023 with new episodes streaming free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.
