Neighbours star Matt Wilson has shared his hope that Emmett Donaldson (Ezra Justin) and Brent Colefax (Texas Watterston) will become show regulars.

The duo returned to screens earlier this year when David (Takaya Honda) and Aaron (Matt Wilson) found Brent sleeping rough in their shed.

Speaking recently to Digital Spy, Matt shared his admiration for both actors' talents, dubbing them "great performers".

He also revealed he "absolutely" would love Emmett and Brent to join the show on a more permanent basis.

"We love Ezra and Texas," Matt told Digital Spy. "They're such good fun to have on set. I don't know if it's me trying to live my youth again through them, but it's really good to have them back. They're such great performers.

"Texas has never had any formal acting training. He hasn't even done a class. He just watched movies and wrote down notes and observed. Every time he turns up to set, his scripts are covered top to bottom in notes with his red pen. He writes so many notes and delves so deep into every scene. He's going to go a long way."

"And Ezra is just one of those annoying kids who has double your amount of talent and is half your age! You just think: 'If I had that much confidence at his age, I can't imagine where I'd be now'."

Asked whether he wants them to become regulars, he added: "Oh yeah, for sure – absolutely!"

Matt's comments follow his co-star Takaya Honda revealing he also "would love" for Brett and Emmett to become show regulars.

He said: "I would love it to happen. It depends whether these two young, brilliant actors want to stay on the show, in a way!"
