Neil Gaiman requests privacy as wife Amanda Palmer reveals they've separated in lockdown
Neil Gaiman has separated from his wife, musician Amanda Palmer, amid the coronavirus lockdown and made his way to the UK from New Zealand.
The couple, who have been married since 2011, were together in New Zealand with their four-year-old son Ash.
US born Palmer, 44, shared the news via Twitter by posting: "To everyone sending me messages of support, rage & condolences - thank you. i’ve got the kid full time in lockdown & wish i could spend time answering.

The Dresden Dolls singer posted a link to her Patreon page where she elaborated on the situation, explaining that the separation was not a result of "COVID or lockdown" before noting the timing was "comically bad".
"I am so far from home and so alone right now. i do not know what is going to happen," Palmer wrote, although clarified she would not be giving further details in order to protect her son's privacy.
Gaiman, 59, responded to Palmer's statements on Twitter where he confirmed they were going through "rocky times" and asked for privacy.

Neither party detailed if it was a permanent split or temporary time apart.
Back in March, the writer explained how he and Ash had flown to New Zealand so the trio could be together.
Gaiman posted a photo of his son to his Instagram along with the caption: "We flew in very suddenly to be with Amanda and got here a few hours before we would have gone into isolation — otherwise she would have come back to us post tour and would have had to go into isolation in Melbourne."
The pair share an open marriage, something they've both previously discussed.
Last year in a joint interview, Palmer told The Times' Magazine that they "weren't interest in having big, multiple relationships". She added: "We're just slutty, but compassionately so."
