Nelly brought his 20-plus years of music to the Monroe County Fair and the crowd of thousands of people from all across Michigan and northern Ohio loved it.

Tiffany Stewart of Fowlerville was there with her daughter.

“I am originally from Ida, so we have to come to the Monroe County Fair," she said. "I am a Nelly fan, so I made her come.”

Stewart said she’s been a fan for decades.

“We enjoyed the show," she said. "He’s done a nice job.”

All of Nelly’s best hits were played. Valerie Miles of Toledo was there with tickets she received for her birthday. She said she's been a Nelly fan since the early 2000s.

“I’m just here to see him. I’m having a lot of fun,” Miles said.

Several thousand people filled the stands and parade grounds, enthusiastically enjoying Nelly’s music. As the long sunset faded into a warm and comfortable summer evening, music filled the fairgrounds. The light show eventually blended in with the lights from the various carnival rides, which kept running well into the night.

Mia Evans of Monroe said she has been a fan of Nelly “for as long as I can remember. I’ve always loved Nelly. I’m having a great time.”

This concert is part the week-long festivities being held at the 75th annual Monroe County Fair. The fair runs through Saturday.
