Grammy-award winning rap artist Nelly will headline Sand Mountain Amphitheater’s concert “Tacos and Tequila.”

The Albertville venue will host the event on May 20; tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.

“The event has more fun in store for crowds than just the best of Hip Hop music, ensuring an experience that fans won’t soon forget,” according to a news release from the amphitheater.

Tacos and Tequila also will feature other performers such as Chingy, Baby Bash and DJ Skribble. The amphitheater news release describes it as a “truly electric night of music” to kick off the summer concert season.

Nelly, known for several songs such as “Hot in Herre” and “#1,” started his solo career with the release of “Country Grammar” in 2000. The album spent seven weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200, selling more than 9 million copies and giving him four Grammy nominations.

He claimed two Grammys in 2003 (Best Rap/Sung Performance for "Dilemma" with Kelly Rowland and Best Male Rap Solo Performance for "Hot in Herre") and another in 2004 (Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for "Shake Ya Tailfeather" with P. Diddy and Murphy Lee).

Nelly also has assorted American Music Awards, BET Hip-Hop Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Blockbuster Entertainment Awards, MTV Awards, Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, Soul Train Awards and Teen Choice Awards on his resume.

He became one of only seven rappers in history to receive a Diamond status song for his collaboration with country music group Florida Georgia Line in 2013. The group collaborated with him again in 2021 with their song “Lil Bit.”

Chingy released his first single, “Right Thurr,” in 2003, which placed him “on the musical map as a good-time rapper specializing in catchy, club-friendly beats and simplistic lyrics,” according to the news release.

His debut album, “Jackpot,” went on to sell 2 million copies as a result of his debut single’s success. In 2018, Chingy debuted as a record producer with his single “Sparks Fly.”

Baby Bash also has had several hits on the Billboard charts. Most notably, his single “Suga Suga” peaked at No. 7 on the Top 100. Since then, he has collaborated with artists such as B-Legit, C-Bo and Mac Dre in the West Coast and Latino rap scene.

Today, he continues to write songs for performers such as Paula DeAnda, Jennifer Hudson and Frankie J.
