Neo-Nazis Protest Outside Disney World With Swastikas & DeSantis Signs

While President Joe Biden and the LGBTQ+ community celebrated Pride Month at the White House and around America, neo-Nazis waved flags and performed “Sieg Heil” salutes in Florida.

Outside Disney World in Orlando, a group of protesters waved their flags on Saturday, disturbing passersby.

Numerous images and videos circulated on social media showed protesters near the Disney World entrance sign. Nazi imagery, including swastikas, adorned several protest signs and flags. There were also signs and banners carrying DeSantis’s face and supporting his campaign for president in 2024, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports.

One of the people standing outside the entrance was a man who could be heard yelling about “white power” as the group chanted.

DeSantis and Disney are embroiled in a spat over Disney's objections to his anti-LGBTQ+ “don’t say gay” legislation, which he signed into law last year.

Since then, DeSantis has targeted Disney’s self-governing powers, and Disney has retaliated by suing him, alleging that he has weaponized government power against the business.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the demonstration, which dissipated after about two hours without arrests.

“We are aware of these groups that aim to agitate and incite people with anti-Semitic symbols and slurs,” the organization said. “They are also aware of the law.”

The statement continued, “The Orange County Sheriff’s Office deplores hate speech in any form, but people have the First Amendment right to demonstrate. And while what these groups do is revolting and condemned in the strongest way by the Sheriff and the Sheriff’s Office, they did not on Saturday, to our knowledge, commit a criminal act.”

An heiress to the Disney empire, Abigail Disney, whose grandfather, Roy, cofounded the entertainment behemoth with his brother Walt, tweeted her outrage at the display of swastikas outside the Florida theme park.

“My grandfather is spinning in his grave,” she wrote Sunday evening.
