Netflix apologises for "unacceptable" Chilling Adventures of Sabrina tweet

Netflix has apologised for an "unacceptable" post shared by Chilling Adventures of Sabrina's Twitter account that used the phrase 'Bloody Sunday'.
Shared by the series' official account, the tweet – which has since been deleted – included behind-the-scenes images of the Sabrina cast covered in fake blood. The caption read: "Sunday bloody Sunday."
Considered a significant event of the Troubles, Bloody Sunday refers to the Bogside Massacre of 1972, in which 14 people were shot and killed by British soldiers during a protest in Derry, Northern Ireland.

After followers pointed out that some may find the wording offensive or inappropriate, the tweet was deleted and a spokesperson for Netflix later apologised for the content.
"Our tweet was unacceptable and has since been removed. We are very sorry for the hurt and distress it caused," they said in a statement to Deadline.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina recently wrapped up its fourth and final season, bringing back original sitcom stars Beth Broderick and Caroline Rhea for the series finale.

The pair, who famously played Aunts Zelda and Hilda in '90s classic Sabrina The Teenage Witch, appeared as Kiernan Shipka's Sabrina Morningstar found herself trapped in the set of the original show.
Melissa Joan Hart was noticeably absent, but in an exclusive interview with Digital Spy, Beth Broderick suggested that a cameo from the original Sabrina would have been "almost destructive".
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina seasons 1-4 are streaming now on Netflix.
