Netflix and Shondaland just released the official trailer and brand-new images for the upcoming series, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.

The Bridgerton prequel series will premiere on May 4 and follow the beloved Queen Charlotte as she rises to prominence and power.

Here's the official description:

Centered on Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power, this Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.

The series stars:

Golda Rosheuva who plays the original Queen Charlotte in the series. However, the focus will be on the younger version of the royal, played by India Amarteifi.

The limited series will also star Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton), Arsema Thomas (Young Agatha Danbury), Katie Brayben (Vivian Ledger), Keir Charles (Lord Ledger), Sam Clemmett (elder Brimsley), Hugh Sachs (younger Brimsley), Richard Cunningham (Lord Bute), Michelle Fairley (Princess Augusta), Corey Mylchreest (King George), and Cyril Nri (Lord Danbury).

Rhimes serves as showrunner, executive producer and writer, with Tom Verica serving as director and executive producer. Betsy Beers also executive produces.
