Netflix drops new trailer for ‘Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area’
Netflix dropped its second teaser trailer for the South Korean remake of “Money Heist,” giving viewers a more in depth look into how the series has been adapted to fit local audiences.
“Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area” puts a spin on the original 2017 Spanish heist crime drama series, with prior released images revealing the iconic Dali masks have been swapped for the traditional Korean “Hahoetal” masks.
The new retelling explores the consequences of a reunified Korea in which a new mint has been constructed in order to create a shared currency for the joint economy. Many believed the reunification would be beneficial to both sides, as stated in the trailer, though it turns out “only the rich got richer.” A team of thieves under the leadership of the criminal mastermind known as the Professor take on a heist of the Unified Korea Mint for money that has yet to be printed.
"The themes of a common currency and a mint built in the Joint Security Area (which divides North and South Korea today) are the premise of the series, which adds the Korean flavor and excitement to the original story," said the show’s writer Ryu Yong-jae.

Starring Park Hae-soo from “Squid Game,” the new series premieres on June 24 on Netflix.
