Tiger King fans rejoice. Not only will Netflix be bringing the true-crime docuseries back for a second installation, but Tiger King 2 is slated to hit the streamer before the end of the year.

Netflix confirmed the news in a trailer titled The Home of True Crime | Slate Announcement in late September.

Tiger King 2 was only one of several documentaries featured in the announcement. Other shows listed included: The Puppet Master: Hunting the Ultimate Conman, The Tinder Swindler, Trust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King, and Bad Vegan.

Released during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tiger King became a viral sensation, spawning hilarious memes and a Peacock miniseries with Joe Exotic. The film chronicled his rise from a popular zookeeper to his run for political office and subsequent felony conviction.

If you're wondering when Tiger King 2 will be released, we've got you covered with all the most recent updates.

When does Tiger King 2 premiere?

The second installation of the hit Netflix series premieres at 3/2c on Wednesday, November 17.

How many episodes will there be?

While the first edition of Tiger King featured eight episodes, Tiger King 2 will only have five episodes.

Is Joe Exotic still in prison?

Viewers were stunned to watch as Joe Exotic was found guilty of two counts of murder-for-hire, falsifying wildlife records, and violating the Endangered Species Act in the original Tiger King. He was also convicted of killing five tigers and illegally selling other animals across state lines and was sentenced to 22 years in prison.

In May 2021, Joe took to Twitter calling for a presidential pardon from Joe Biden, since his pleas for a pardon went unanswered by former president Donald Trump. According to Joe, he was extremely ill and undergoing tests to confirm if he had prostate cancer.

Despite his pleas, Joe is presently incarcerated.

Is there a trailer for Tiger King 2?

Yep! Netflix debuted the official trailer for Tiger King 2 on Twitter. "We thought we'd seen it all — but we'd only scratched the surface. Tiger King 2 premieres November 17," the streamer wrote on Twitter.

Which cast members will be returning?

Joe Exotic, Tim Stark, Jeff Lowe, Allen Glover, and James Garretson all appeared in the series trailer. Breakout cast member Carole Baskin was noticeably absent, but that doesn't come as a surprise. When Tiger King first premiered, she made it clear that she was not pleased with her portrayal.

What's going on with Carole Baskin?

The cat's rights activist recently filed a lawsuit against Netflix following the release of the Tiger King 2 trailer. According to Variety, Carole accuses Royal Goode Productions of a "breached contract" by "continuing to use footage of her and her husband in Tiger King 2, since they only signed appearance release forms for the first documentary."

According to court docs obtained by People, Netflix, and production company Royal Goode Productions, who are listed as defendants in the suit, claims that the release forms Carole and her husband signed prior to filming "explicitly permit Defendants to use the footage in later projects."

The court docs also state, "Defendants did not need to obtain a release from Plaintiffs to use the footage in Tiger King 2 or its promotional trailers. And there is nothing in any of the appearance releases that prohibits any use of the footage. Accordingly, Plaintiffs have no claim at all, much less one that can evade Defendants' First Amendment."

According to People, a Florida judge denied Baskin's motion for a temporary restraining order to stop Netflix and Royal Goods from featuring them in the sequel.

What will Tiger King 2 be about?

According to a synopsis obtained from the streamer by Elle, the series will offer new insight into the show's biggest players. "With Joe Exotic behind bars and Carole Baskin closing in on ownership of his disreputable zoo, the Emmy-nominated saga continues its twisted course with Tiger King 2 as newfound revelations emerge on the motivations, backstories, and secrets of America’s most notorious big cat owners," the statement said.

"Old enemies and frenemies" will reunite "for another season of murder, mayhem, and madness. Thought you knew the whole story? Just you wait."
