Netflix continues to churn out dozens of original films and shows, and next month is no exception. But May also brings a welcome influx of project featuring women and people of color.
Highlights of the streaming site's new offerings include darkly comedic series "Dead to Me," starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini; the adult animated "Tuca & Bertie," featuring the voices of Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong; documentary "Knock Down the House," about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other women running for congress; and comedy film "Wine Country," from Amy Poehler.
Other titles potentially worthy of queuing are Spike Lee-produced time-travel series "See You Yesterday;" Rom-com "Always Be My Maybe," starring Randall Park and Wong; Ava DuVernay's Central Park Five-centered show "When They See Us"; twisted Allison Williams thriller "The Perfection"; and Renee Zellweger's first TV series, "What/If."
