Netflix has dropped the trailer for May December, and it looks like some messy goodness!

Helmed by Todd Haynes, the cast includes Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore and Charles Melton. The film was written by Samy Burch.

Apparently loosely based on the case Mary Kay Letourneau, who was charged with having a sexual relationship with one of her 13-year-old students, Set two decades after their whirlwind affair, Moore and Melton portray a married couple who find themselves grappling with the pressures of their past when Portman’s character, an actress researching for a film, enters their lives.

Speaking about Portman and Moore’s characters, Haynes told Netflix’s TUDUM, “Both women are circling each other and trying to get a handle on each other. I think a lot of it is about a process of trust, which is Natalie’s character, Elizabeth’s goal to make Gracie feel toward her. It’s Elizabeth’s project to try to navigate around these resistances piece by piece.”

Producers include Portman Sophie Mas, Pamela Koffler, Christine Vachon, Grant S. Johnson, Tyler W. Konney, Jessica Elbaum, and Will Ferrell. Executive producers are Madeleine K. Rudin, Thomas K. Richards, Lee Broda, Jeff Rice, Jonathan Montepare, Samy Burch, Alex Brown, Thorsten Schumacher and Claire Taylor.

May December is set to open the New York Film Festival this week.
