Netflix releases teaser for 'Black Mirror' Season 6

Four years after the premiere of its fifth season, Netflix’s hit anthology series “Black Mirror” is set to return.

The streaming giant released an official teaser for Season 6, touted as its "most unpredictable" yet, of “Black Mirror” on Wednesday.

The teaser, which features an eerie rendition of the song “I Don’t Want to Set the World on Fire,” includes different clips taken from Season 6’s various episodes. Some of the clips include a room on fire, a woman smashing another person’s head on a glass counter and a cheerleader crashing a wedding.

“You’ve been wondering. You’ve been waiting. You’ve been warned. The sixth season of Charlie Brooker’s ‘Black Mirror’ is back,” Netflix wrote in the video’s description, also calling the upcoming installment “the most unpredictable, unclassifiable and unexpected season yet.”

Showrunner and writer Charlie Brooker told Tudum that “Black Mirror” should be “a series that can’t be easily defined, and can keep reinventing itself.”

“Partly as a challenge, and partly to keep things fresh for both me and the viewer, I began this season [Season 6] by deliberately upending some of my own core assumptions about what to expect,” he shared.

“Consequently, this time, alongside some of the more familiar ‘Black Mirror’ tropes we’ve also got a few new elements, including some I’ve previously sworn blind the show would never do… The stories are all still tonally ‘Black Mirror’ through-and-through — but with some crazy swings and more variety than ever before.”

Filming for “Black Mirror” Season 6 reportedly started in June 2022, one month after it was greenlit by Netflix.

In addition to Brooker, Jessica Rhoades, Annabel Jones and Bisha K. Ali serve as executive producers. Ali is notably the creator of the Disney+ series “Ms. Marvel,” which stars Iman Vellani.

Season 6’s star-studded cast includes Himesh Patel, Anjana Vasan, Salma Hayek Pinault, Aaron Paul, Annie Murphy, Auden Thornton, Ben Barnes, Clara Rugaard, Daniel Portman, Danny Ramirez, David Shields, Himesh Patel, John Hannah, Josh Hartnett, Kate Mara, Michael Cera, Monica Dolan, Myha’la Herrold, Paapa Essiedu, Rob Delaney, Rory Culkin, Samuel Blenkin and Zazie Beetz.

“Black Mirror,” whose first season premiered on the British TV's Channel 4 in 2011, moved to Netflix in 2016.

The anthology series heavily explores technology in relation to contemporary social issues. Since 2011, the show has won an Art Directors Guild Award, a BAFTA Television Craft Award, a Broadcast Award, a Cinema Audio Society Award, a Producers Guild of America Award and several Emmy Awards, among other accolades.
