Netflix renews animated video game series Castlevania for fourth season

From Digital Spy

Netflix has offered Castlevania fans an update – albeit a vague one – on when they might expect to see more episodes of the vampire-based video game series on the streaming service.

On Friday (March 27), it confirmed that the show would be rising from the dead again soon via its official NX Twitter account.

"Sir Mirror has some Castlevania news, reply with [hands clapping emoji] to summon him from his box..." the company wrote alongside an animated still. In the reply, the same page shared a two-second clip that sees the aforementioned box open and reveal the words, "Season four is coming."

Viewers had to wait 15 months between the first and second instalments, and everyone's patience was really tested when it took a further 16 months before the third was uploaded on March 5.

But given that Castlevania have started teasing the arrival of the fourth already, it might not be so far away. Much to the excitement of numerous fans, replying with GIFs reading "hype overload" and "oh my god... okay, it's happening", alongside applauding crowds as requested.

That said, with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic continuing to cause problems in the entertainment industry and executive producer Adi Shankar currently working on a TV adaptation of the Devil May Cry video game, production may end up being delayed.

When it comes to what might happen in the upcoming season, fans have already started speculating whether Dracula's son Alucard (Robert Belgrade) might start turning his back on humans and embracing his bloodsucking heritage after being betrayed by Taka (Toru Uchikado) and Sumi (Rila Fukushima).

Castlevania seasons 1-3 are streaming now on Netflix.
