Gwyneth Paltrow's controversial Netflix series The Goop Lab has been renewed for a second season on the streamer.

The show, which follows the actress' wellness and lifestyle brand, premiered earlier this year with a six-episode series.

The Goop Lab has now been greenlit for a second season, Variety reports, with another round of six 30-minute episodes, which will be focused on sex, intimacy and female empowerment.

Paltrow's series sparked controversy when it was released, with some critics arguing that it promoted pseudoscience and peddled unsubstantiated health claims.

However, the actress defended the show, telling Variety: "I will never understand the level of fascination and projection. But we don't want to not change the conversation just to please everybody.

"We do what we do in total integrity, and we love what we do. It doesn't even matter, really, that some are trying to get attention for writing about us."

Earlier this summer, Paltrow shared her own lockdown wellness guide, which includes sex oil and an £832 heating mat.

Meanwhile, the star recently revealed that Shallow Hal is the movie she most regrets doing, calling it a "disaster" and revealing that she felt humiliated wearing a fat suit because she was treated differently.

"The first day I tried the fat suit on, I was in the Tribeca Grand and I walked through the lobby. It was so sad. It was so disturbing. No one would make eye contact with me because I was obese," she said.

"For some reason the clothes they make for women that are overweight are horrible. I felt humiliated because people were really dismissive."
