Modern Family boss Steven Levitan is teaming up with Netflix for a new series, with the show set to star Frozen’s Kristen Bell.

As reported by Deadline, the pair will collaborate with Erin Foster on the currently untitled series, with the story focusing on the unlikely relationship between an irreverent, outspoken, agnostic woman (Bell) and an unconventional rabbi. The narrative is reportedly loosely based on Foster’s real-life experience.

As well as starring in the series, Bell will also serve as an executive producer alongside Levitan, who co-created the acclaimed sitcom Modern Family in 2009.

Bell, who also starred in The Good Place, will reprise her role as Anna in the upcoming Frozen 3, which was announced earlier this month. The greenlighting came during a quarterly earnings call at Disney, with CEO Bob Iger also unveiling sequels to Toy Story 4 and Zootopia.

Bell had previously been quizzed on the possibility of a third Frozen film, hinting that it would eventually happen despite having “zero authority” on the matter.

She also jokingly apologised to parents who had to “endure” the first two films in the franchise, with the actress making an amusing speech as she had accepted her induction as a Disney Legend.

“I would like to say that I'm sorry to every parent who has had to listen to Frozen on a loop. I feel you, I see you, I am you. I get it,” she quipped.

“Disney taught me to dream big and follow your heart. And that it is totally appropriate to bust out into song at any moment, which I really appreciate. Playing Princess Anna has been the highlight of my life I think — I mean other than my kids and stuff.

Frozen 2 is streaming on Disney+, and available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K. Tickets for the West End musical are available here.
