Netherlands bowled out for 39 against Sri Lanka

CHITTAGONG, Bangladesh (AP) — Sri Lanka earned a nine-wicket win over the Netherlands on Monday to move into the top spot of Group 1 at the World Twenty20.

By bowling out the Netherlands in T20 international's lowest score of 39 in 10.3 overs, Sri Lanka completed the victory in five overs, making 40-1.

It was Sri Lanka's second straight victory after beating South Africa by five runs.

Kusal Perera was the only batsman to be out on 14, being undone by an Ahsan Jamil's slower. He hit one six and one four off 10 balls.

Tilkaratne Dilshan was 12 not out while Mahela Jayawardene, who scored the winning singles, was not out on 11.

Ahsan Jamil claimed 1-18.

Ajantha Mendis and Angelo Mathews claimed three wickets each, while Lasith Malinga took 2-5. Nuwan Kulasekara was 1-0.

Sri Lanka bowled well from the start and wrapped up the innings in 10.3 overs, some before and some after a five-minute delay due to a malfunctioning floodlight.

Kenya's 56 against Afghanistan in 2013 had been T20's lowest score before Monday.

Only Tom Cooper reached double-digit figures for the Netherlands, scoring 16.

Kusekara triggered the collapse from the third ball of the innings by taking out Stephan Myburgh, who played an outstanding knock to propel his side to Super 10 stage.

Mathews then had taken Michael Swart and Wesley Barresi in consecutive deliveries to make them 1-3.

Cooper briefly defied but Sri Lankan bowlers ensured they would not resist that much.

Earlier, Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal won the toss and elected to bowl first.
