Nets make history with James Harden’s NBA All-Star nod

Only one Eastern Conference player has secured Player of the Week honors twice this season, yet that individual — James Harden — will not be starting in this year’s NBA All-Star Game. However, he did find out on Tuesday he will be among the reserves for this year’s game.

Harden joins Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving as the third member of Brooklyn’s roster to make the 2021 All-Star Game roster. By making the team, Harden made Nets history. The Beard, Durant and Irving are the first trio of Nets teammates to be selected as NBA All-Stars in the same season.

The other Eastern Conference reserve selections are Boston’s Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, Chicago’s Zach LaVine, New York’s Julius Randle, Philadelphia’s Ben Simmons and Orlando’s Nikola Vucevic.

This is Harden’s ninth NBA All-Star nod and his first time making it as a member of the Eastern Conference.
