Tot scores 11 in 4th quarter, No. 16 Oklahoma women beat BYU

PROVO, Utah — Madi Williams had 21 points, Nevaeh Tot scored 11 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter and No. 16 Oklahoma beat BYU 77-66 on Tuesday.

Oklahoma (3-0) pulled away on an 11-0 run late in the fourth quarter, fueled by Tot, for its sixth straight victory in the series.

Tot made a steal and converted a three-point play with 2:45 left to extend Oklahoma's lead to 64-60. Then Tot, a 5-foot-2 guard, rebounded a BYU miss and made a 3-pointer at the other end. Tot added another 3-pointer, following a BYU turnover, for a 12-point lead with 1:19 left.

Liz Scott added 12 points and nine rebounds for Oklahoma, which trailed 34-26 at halftime. Taylor Robertson scored six points to become just the seventh Sooner to reach 2,000 career points.

Lauren Gustin led BYU (0-3) with 16 points and 20 rebounds. Nani Falatea and Amanda Barcello each had 12 points, and Kaylee Smiler added 11 points with five assists.

The Sooners continue their four-game road swing against Utah on Wednesday. Three of those games are against NCAA Tournaments teams from a year ago.

OKC Memorial Marathon adds senior race

The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon announced Tuesday that it will add a senior marathon next year for runners aged 65 and over. For $30, entrants can walk or run 25 miles between January and race day on April 29. That day, runners would meet at the start line to complete the final 1.2 miles, beginning at 8 a.m. For more information, go to okcmarathon.com.

Rams' Kupp to IR after ankle surgery; OL Jackson, Brewer out

Los Angeles Rams receiver Cooper Kupp will have surgery on his sprained right ankle. That will sideline the Super Bowl MVP for at least the next four weeks while on injured reserve. Coach Sean McVay says left tackle Alaric Jackson will miss the rest of the season because of blood clots while right guard Chandler Brewer will be out four to six weeks after knee surgery. Kupp was the AP’s Offensive Player of the Year last season after winning the triple crown of receiving. He sprained his ankle in the Rams’ loss to Arizona. Kupp is currently second in the NFL with 75 catches.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: The Charlotte 49ers named Michigan associate head coach Francis “Biff” Poggi as their head football coach. Poggi replaces Will Healy, who was fired earlier this season. Pete Rossomando has been serving as the interim coach and will finish out this season. Poggi inherits a team that has struggled in 2022. The 49ers are 2-9 entering the season finale Saturday against Louisiana Tech. Poggi's introductory news conference is scheduled for next week. He is Charlotte’s third head football coach since the school’s FBS football program started in 2015.

NBA: The Memphis Grizzlies announced that guard Desmond Bane has sprained his right big toe and will miss at least two to three weeks. Team officials said a further evaluation showed Bane has a Grade 2 sprain. He was hurt during a win over Minnesota on Friday night.
